The accidental expatriate blogger behind Moment Quartz Field

Hello, I am Mason
I'm a project manager and a parent, an expat living in Portland, United States.
A couple of years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually blossomed into a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to United States wasn’t in the long-range plan. Like many expat moves, it kicked off as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much larger.
The early months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complicated than anticipated.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of hands-on learning. Over time, routines began to take shape. We found spots that fit our needs, connected with other families, and began laying down something steady.
Why I Built Moment Quartz Field
Most online content focused on corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism material. What was lacking was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap by offering practical advice drawn from real life in United States.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from residing in United States
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever there is a real change
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in United States goes on, and the learning journey continues. As long as the information remains useful, I will continue recording our discoveries.
If you have questions about family life in Portland or anywhere in United States, don't hesitate to contact me.
